A scenic drive

Posted by:AutoMoney

August – the perfect month for opening the windows, getting some songs on in the car and going for a nice scenic drive.

With more and more people staying home for holidays, getting out for a while on the road sounds like the best way to have a change of scenery and view!

Here are three of the scenic routes we have found right here in the UK...

Kendal to KeswickLake district

Travelling through the Lake District from one town to another, you will pass some of the most spectacular sights possible, including passing though Ullswater. With plenty of places to stop once you have arrived at your destination, Kendal to Keswick is a great drive! To embark on this drive, simply follow the A591 from Kendal to Keswick.

The Cheddar GorgeCheddar Gorge

With roads that wind and twist throughout the gorge, when driving through this incredibly spectacular are, you will find yourself in the deepest gorge found in the UK. With the possibility to stop and enjoy scenic cliff side walks, you can really see some wonderful sights whilst enjoying this part of Somerset. Although the road is relatively short, at only 14 miles, it is jam packed with beauty and gorgeous photo opportunities. To follow this route, follow the B3135 between Cheddar and Ashwick.

St Ives to St JustLands End

Although this isn’t the best route for a relaxing drive as the nature of the route and the road itself requires a lot of attention, this route down in the south west is sure to take your breath away with its beauty.

Following the very windy B3306 through villages and past farms, this route is popular with bikers as well as car drivers. With narrow roads, bendy and tight turns and views into a number of villages on the way, this route is definitely one that needs some planning beforehand!
